The 19-year-old Remco Evenepoel is close to cracking the top 10 overall at the six-day race.

Tour of Turkey stage 2 concluded in Eceabat, along the ANZAC front line of the Gallipoli Campaign, after a day which became intense and nervous only inside the final three kilometers, a short unclassified climb with irregular gradients that were sure to make a selection once the breakaway got caught by a peloton who didn’t leave anything to chance.

Neo-pro Remco Evenepol flew the flag for Deceuninck – Quick-Step on the tough and technical finale, coming at the front of the bunch with two kilometers left and stringing it out for more than 500 meters, a strong acceleration which dropped many of the riders. The winning move came from that small group left, less than 200 meters from home, when Sam Bennett (Bora-hansgrohe) sprinted to victory and retained the leader’s jersey.

19-year-old Remco, who is racing just his second World Tour event of the season, was the highest finisher of our team and made an important jump of 29 places in the general classification, sitting now just five seconds off the top 10 overall ahead of stage 3, which at 122 kilometers is the shortest of this edition.
