The Wolfpack Bike Experience Calpe – An absolute hit

The Wolfpack Bike Experience Calpe – An absolute hit

Thursday 19 December 2019 - 00:08

Here’s why December was such a memorable month for 30 of the team’s fans.

Last week, it wasn’t just the Deceuninck – Quick-Step riders that travelled to the Costa Blanca, but also the members of the Wolfpack Bike Experience – a project very close to our heart, which we run in collaboration with NextGen Sports. The participants arrived on the 8th and for an unforgettable week shared the hotel with our squad and even got to train with some of the riders, including European ITT Champion Remco Evenepoel and Dutch Champion Fabio Jakobsen.

Our 30 guests, hailing from countries such as Belgium, Brazil, Switzerland or the United States, arrived on December 8 and left one week later having lived an amazing experience at the end of which many of them promised to return next year, when sunny Calpe and the excellent Suitopia Sol y Mar Hotel will again await them to experience the life of a pro rider together with the Deceuninck – Quick-Step team.

Guided on the road by 1996 World Champion and six-time Monument winner Johan Museeuw and dressed in the squad’s kit (just one of the numerous surprises we had in store for them), they rode their own program and tested their limits on some of Spain’s most beautiful climbs on the excellent Specialized bikes provided by the team, which in the past had been used by riders who wrote history for the Wolfpack, including “Monsieur Paris-Roubaix” himself, Tom Boonen.

But when you think about it, at the end of the day, it wasn’t just about riding the bike and tackling the slopes of Col de Rates or Monte Pego, but about making new friends, enjoying quality time together with them and our riders – who gave all the participants a warm welcome and plenty of autographs during an impromptu photo shoot – experiencing the Wolfpack spirit and concept first-hand and creating happy memories that will last a lifetime.

And you know what? Next year we are ready to repeat the whole thing, so make sure you are around and register for the 2020 Wolfpack Bike Experience!
