Our rider took the glory Saturday afternoon.

Dutch Champion Fabio Jakobsen had no match in the Challenge of the Stars competition, defeating Mads Pedersen, Pascal Ackermann and Filippo Ganna in three consecutive virtual sprints on his way to claiming the win at the exciting virtual tournament.

The sprints were held over an undulating 1200m-long course in the Tuscan countryside and the Vuelta a España double stage winner showed a perfect combination of power and fast sprinting, which landed him the overall victory: “I am very happy for this success. 1200 meters is longer than a normal bunch sprint and my legs are very painful right now! What was my strategy? I tried to check the screen and stay close to my opponents, before giving everything I had in the last 500 meters.”

“I have been training indoors a lot recently, especially when it’s bad weather, definitely a few hours whenever it was the case. I miss the Giro d’Italia, it is a race I looked forward to discovering this month, but I have to admit it’s been fun to have a new format and I really enjoyed it”, concluded the 23-year-old Deceuninck – Quick-Step rider.
