The young American was one of the team’s four rookies last year.

The first US rider in almost a decade to wear the Deceuninck – Quick-Step jersey, Ian made himself noticed in a number of races, even during a complicated and unusual 2020 season, and was consequently handed a maiden Grand Tour appearance, at the Vuelta a España.

The 22-year-old from Decatur, Georgia talked about that experience, what it meant riding at the side of Sam Bennett or Zdenek Stybar, and making the time cut on the penultimate day, thus earning the right to travel to Madrid and conclude his first three-week race.
