Biography of Philip

Hailing from Tienen, a small town located in the province of Flemish Brabant, Philip studied medicine in Leuven, where he became general practitioner, just like his father and grandfather, before graduating medicine in Gent. Early in his career, he started working in motocross, festivals, sports events, refugee camps and an addiction center, where he met Yvan Vanmol. They clicked immediately and it wasn’t long until Yvan asked him to join the current World Tour champions two years ago.

“I am so happy and grateful for having received this chance that I couldn’t say no to. We are away from home a lot during a season, but the atmosphere is always amazing with the staff and riders, and that makes it a magical experience”, says Philip, whose favourite race is Paris-Roubaix, while the gold medals won by Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl at the World Team Time Trial Championships in Innsbruck go down as the most overwhelming moment since joining the squad.

Philip – a big fan of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, old school hip-hop, and all Martin Scorsese movies, especially the gangster ones – names Muhammad Ali and Roger Federer as his sports idols, and can never say no to a book by Malcolm Gladwell, Steven Pinker, Bill Bryson or Tim Ferriss.
