The Luxembourger showed his good form five days ahead of the 100th Giro d'Italia.

Last Quick-Step Floors rider to leave the start ramp Sunday afternoon for the 17.9km individual time trial which brought down the curtain over the 71st edition of the Tour de Romandie, Bob Jungels dosed his effort perfectly on the tricky course which included a difficult 7km-long climb, and stopped the clock in 25:51, a result which saw him finish eighth in the general classification, for his fourth career top 10 overall at a World Tour race, following the 2015 Tour de Suisse and the 2016 Tirreno-Adriatico and Giro d'Italia.

Bob, a strong all-rounder and one of the fastest men on the second part of the stage won by Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) ahead of overall victor Richie Porte (BMC), was one of the three Quick-Step Floors riders to impress on the hilly Lausanne time trial, alongside David De La Cruz and 23-year-old Maximilian Schachmann.

The Spaniard, a stage winner at Paris-Nice and Vuelta al Pais Vasco this season, concluded the Suisse event in 16th place, while the young German, a neo-pro who completed just his second World Tour stage race, caught the eye of everyone with his strong display, which elevated him 12 positions in the general classification, up to 19th.

At the top of the World Tour rankings ever since Yves Lampaert's spectacular win at Dwars door Vlaanderen, Quick-Step Floors – who have enjoyed a fantastic season so far, winning 24 races and finishing in the top 3 on 18 more occasions – will go into the month of May with a hefty advantage over the other teams on the podium, of 1432, respectively 2435 points.
